PHILADELPHIA, PA, October 4, 2007 -- Today the Weiss Tech House (link) awarded Innova Materials a $1K grant for the commercialization of its flagship Innlay technology. The environmentally-friendly, polymer-enhancing technology allows manufacturers to cheaply add functionality, such as antibacterial and anti-biofilm properties, to their polymer products via conventional painting methods. Innova Materials is currently exploring consumer product and industrial applications for its antimicrobial and anti-biofilm Innlay solution, IonArmour, which it has thus far prototyped on hydration packs, water pipe, water bottles, and other polymer surfaces. Innova Materials is in the process of identifying additional partners, collaborators, and investors and welcomes all inquiries, particularly from those interested in nanotech, cleantech, and greentech.
The grant specifically was awarded from the Weiss Tech House Innovation Fund, a mini-venture capital fund that awards grants to student inventors seeking funding to develop their innovative ideas. The Weiss Tech House is a hub of technological innovation at the University of Pennsylvania which encourages and supports students in the creation, development and commercialization of innovative technologies.
